Fitness for Sports Clinic
At The Village Clinic, we run a sports clinic with a difference!
This is due to our "Perfect Partnership" of Physiotherapy
and Podiatry.
Many sports injuries have a biomechanical basis and respond well
to the physiotherapist treating the injury and ensuring full function
is regained. The podiatrist can then address any biomechanical problems,
usually by prescribing bespoke orthotics.
Our
principle to treating sports injuries is:
1. Treatment of the acute injury
2. Rehabilitation back to full, sports specific fitness
3. Gaining optimum biomechanical alignment, therefore aiming to
prevent further injury
To ensure we achieve all three of these steps, we advocate:
- Relative rest only and returning to graded exercises ASAP
- Sports specific exercises which are tailored to your needs
- Exercises in Core stability.
- Assessment of Training techniques.
- Prescription Orthotics (designed for your sport!) are often
needed.
